Treasure hunting!

Participate in a very small scale (a.k.a badly organised) Treasure Hunt last weekend. It was actually a Food and Heritage Hunt, so you would expect lots of food and hunting games. But it was quite a disappointing event overall because me and my team won NOTHING!

First station was the Esplanade Park and we were asked to search for the following locations and snap a picture of these places using our mobile phone. Any idea where these places are?

Answer:
Yhingthai Place, a Thai Restaurant at Purvis Street

Answer:
NO IDEA!!

Answer:
Obvious right? The Cavenagh Bridge next to Fullerton Hotel. DUH?? How stupid is the organiser of the hunt to give this kind of task? No brainer! Something more challenging please...

Answer:
Statue of Sir Stamford Raffles in front of Victoria Concert Hall.

Answer:
One of the monuments in Esplanade Park. Name? Forgotten liao...
After snapping a series of other photos, we had to complete a set of jigsaw puzzle in under 8 minutes. Erm... Jigsaw Puzzle? Treasure Hunt? Erm... more creative please!
After completing these tasks, we had to run down to our next check-point at Bugis. Over there, we had to search for a number of answers to some heritage questions, do Bambo Rock dance (all old people, so my team sprained our back!) and play chatek. We failed miserably because none of us can really kick chatek!
From Bugis, we were instructed to run down to Chinatown and had to search for more answers to more heritage questions. Some of the places we had to visit are:

It was a good experience but I think many other teams cheated as they gave answers to their friends in other teams and shared the prize money of $500. Overall, this was a bad experience compared to other treasure hunts I had participated in (remember the Half-a-million-dollar Treasure Hunt??!!).

Laugh and be merry....

Went to catch Spiderman 3 about 2 weeks ago. What a big yawn and a huge disappointment. What has the director done to the superhero that I love so much in Spiderman 1 and Spiderman 2. We were practically yawning inside the theatre... Last weekend, we caught Next, by Nicholas Cage. Review about the movie was only so so... But i enjoyed it. Not highly recommended but I think it is much better than Spiderman 3. Am waiting for the arrival of Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter to arrive!!

At the theatre, saw the posters for The Simpsons. So like many Singaporeans who could not be bothered with whatever piracy law there is, snapped some pictures of the posters and I really love the Bart Simpson's poster. Way too cool... :-)

Trying to go and watch the Broadway Beng Returns this Friday, hopefully it is as funny as what I have read in the newspaper! Else I want my money back...
Looking forward to the Dim Sum Dollies in July! Never miss a single one of the Dim Sum Dollies series and they are hilarious! Must buy early to get early bird discount! That's how cheapskate I am, trying to save money la, after what the IRAS milked me from my income tax!! I almost fainted when I received the bill!

Cars Galore!!!!

Went shopping for a car on May Day. It's a dream for me to own a car but it still remains a dream as I don't think it is financially wise to purchase a car.

Renault Kangoo: Nice car, cheap but the fabric used for the car seats is YUCKY! Two models, Auto and Manual. The Manual version runs by diesel which is what I am looking for. Cheaper la!

Fiat Panorama: HUGE vehicle... like those that are used to carry corpse! Super expensive, $50k+++ and run by petrol. What a waste of money!

Citroen Berlingo: Ah... nice design, sleek and user friendly interior. You can even open the roof top. Once furnished ($2000 extra), it really is very luxurious. The passenger seat in front can be folded to form a table and you can place your lunch/drink on it! Options to attach a double seater at the back. A nice car to bring when you need to chill out at the beach.

Our favourite is... Citroen Berlingo! Cost: $34388 inclusive of 1 year insurance and 1 year road tax. Will I be driving this car soon? No way... Here's why
Total Cost of the vehicle:
$34388 + ($34388 x 3.3% interest x 7 years) = $42331.628
Amount payable each month:
$42331.628 / 7 years / 12 months = $504
Road tax:
$500 / 12 = $41.70
Insurance:
$1300 / 12 = $108.40
Parking:
$100
Diesel:
$150
TOTAL AMOUNT = $504 + $41.70 + $108.40 + $100 + 150 = $904.10 per month!!!

Each month, we will only spend about $300 on bus and train trips. In case of emergency, we'll need to take taxi and that will cost about $200 each month (MAXIMUM!). Total spent on public transport each month is $500 (MAXIMUM)...
This means a savings of $404.10 per month if we don't buy a car!!! How logical can I be huh? So my dream will remain a dream... unless I strike 4D/TOTO/BIG SWEEP!
